FREE PARENT WORKSHOP SERIES

Our Parent Workshop Series is an ongoing opportunity for parents to receive guidance and education around mental health challenges and treatment options for their children and adolescents. These workshops are offered virtually on select Wednesdays from 12-1pm, and are free of charge. You do not need to be receiving services or affiliated with The Concord Center in any way in order to attend.

2025-2026 Parent Workshop Series:

  • Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS)

    • July 31st, 2025 from 12-1pm​

    • This workshop is geared towards parents of children ages 6-10. In this workshop parents will earn more about skills that can help their children increase flexibility, frustration tolerance, perspective taking, communication, and executive functioning (i.e., planning, organization, task initiation) capabilities. Come learn more about a treatment approach that works to help parents and children reduce conflict, improve communication, and improve their ability to work cooperatively to solve a problem.

       

  • Shaping Behaviors for Back-to-School

    • August 20th, 2025 from 12-1pm​

    • Join us for a discussion of behavioral strategies for influencing your child's behaviors to support them with the transition back to school. By focusing on reinforcement, validation, and consistent responses to behaviors, parents can foster emotional regulation, resilience, and smoother routines during this often stressful period.

  • What to Expect for your Child's Therapy

  • Intro to SPACE Treatment

  • Your Child's Executive Functioning Challenges

    • November 19th, 2025 from 12-1pm​

    • Join us for Your Child's Executive Function Challenges: an informative and supportive workshop designed to help parents better understand executive function (EF) challenges and how they impact children's learning, behavior, and daily life. Learn practical strategies to support your child's organization, focus, time management, emotional regulation, and more. Whether your child has a diagnosis like ADHD or simply struggles with EF skills, this workshop will provide tools and insights to help them thrive at home and in school.

  • Validation Strategies

    • December 17th, 2025 from 12-1pm​

    • Join us for Validation Strategies for Parents: A DBT-Informed Workshop, where you'll learn how to use validation to strengthen your connection with your child and support their emotional growth. Rooted in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, this workshop will teach practical tools for responding to big emotions with empathy—helping reduce conflict, build trust, and improve communication at home.

  • Depression 101

    • January - date TBD​

    • Join us for Depression 101: A Parent Workshop, designed to help you understand the signs and symptoms of depression in children and teens. Grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), this session will provide practical tools to support your child’s emotional well-being and foster healthy coping skills.

  • Anxiety 101

    • February - date TBD​

    • Join us for Anxiety 101: A Parent Workshop, where you'll learn how to recognize signs of anxiety in children and teens, understand what drives it, and discover practical tools to support your child using evidence-based strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This session will equip you with simple, effective techniques to help your child manage worry and build resilience.

  • Typical versus Atypical Adolescent Behaviors

    • March - date TBD​

    • Join us for Typtical vs. Atypical Adolescent behaviors. In this workshop, we will explore some ways to distinguish between normal teen behaviors and those that warrant concern. We will also explore how parents can discuss their concerns with teens, set limits, and utilize skills to parents manage their own reactions to their teen's behavior.

  • Coping Ahead for Summer

    • April - date TBD​

    • Join us for Coping Ahead for Summer: A Parent Workshop, where we’ll explore common emotional and behavioral patterns that arise for kids and teens during the summer months—such as changes in routine, increased screen time, and social challenges. Learn how therapy can support healthy structure, emotional regulation, and resilience during this transition, and walk away with practical strategies to help your child thrive over the summer break.

  • Relationship Building

    • May - date TBD​

    • Join us for DBT 101: A Parent Workshop, an introduction to Dialectical Behavior Therapy and how it can support children and teens struggling with intense emotions, impulsivity, or relationship challenges. You'll learn more about the core modules of DBT — mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness—and how they can help youth build healthier coping and communication. This workshop will also provide an overview of DBT treatment in general.
